These buildings are an integral part of the overall Kumutoto design, playing a critical role in defining the shape of the public space. Their location, scale, size and scope of usage were determined by the North Queens Wharf Design Brief (2002).
WWL's vision for these buildings is that at ground level they will feature unique interactive retail outlets not found anywhere else in the city, as well as food and beverage outlets, together with a combination of office space, apartments, hotel accommodation or even convention facilities on the upper levels.
The extent to which the sites can be developed will be subject to the outcome of WCC's proposed District Plan Variation 11 (DPV11) which proposes to set defined footprints and height limits for each site. The outcome of the proposed DPV11 will not be known until late 2010 or early 2011.
