Area One makes up about 75% of Waitangi Park. 

The park is a great place for families and children of all ages. It is an ideal spot to have a picnic near the water's edge, orjust to sit and watch the world go by.

It is also a great place to throw a frisbee, fly a kite or just lie on the grass with a good book and enjoy the sun.

There is also a large, open, grassy field and state-of-the-art children's playground, an environmentally friendly wetland, new beach, new boardwalks, a skateboard park, street Ball Court, climbing walls, aerosol art walls and a petanque piste.
