Museum of Wellington

The Museum offers a choice of two function rooms for your event, meeting, seminar or catered function.

Located on Queens Wharf and housed in one of the city's finest heritage buildings, the Museum offers function facilities with a difference.  Guests attending after-hours functions can enjoy a private look at the Museum's wonderful collection of maritime, social and cultural history.

Historic Board Room - The von Kohorn Room

The former Board Room of the Wellington Harbour Board, this room can cater for up to 100 people for cocktail functions or 130 utilising the adjacent Common Room and Lobby.

Impressive with its high stud, ornate wood carving and aura of the all powerful Harbour Board in its hey day, guests enter through the Museum's northern facing door and up the heritage rimu staircase.

Cost:   $800 plus GST

After hours security and Museum staff charges may apply.

Available Monday to Sunday from 4pm onwards (negotiable).

The Todd Foundation Room

This is the education room for the Museum's interactive education programme.  It's situated in the northern heritage end of the building with separate access via the heritage staircase or lift.

Seating is available for 50 people, making it an ideal venue for lectures or informal meetings. An overhead projector and screen are available.

Cost:  $500 plus GST

After hours security and Museum staff charges may apply.

Available Monday to Friday from 3.30pm onwards (negotiable).

Facilities:

  • Fully equipped kitchen on same level as Board Room and one half level below the Todd Foundation Room.
  • Disabled access available for both rooms.
  • After hours security and Museum staff charges may apply.
