Clyde Quay Boat Harbour

There would be few Wellingtonians who don’t have a childhood memory of dancing along the concrete boat ramps on their way to Freyberg Beach or Pool and dipping their toes in the dark green murky depths of Clyde Quay Boat Harbour.

Clyde Quay Marina

The boat harbour is also home to the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club – Wellington’s first yacht club established in 1883. The clubhouse was built in 1919 and still stands today, albeit having had a substantial facelift in 1987.  What stories it could tell, having been transformed into a malaria hospital during World War II.

The City Council leases the 75 moorings and boatsheds to the public  – visitor berths are available on request.
