Circa Open Day

Circulate - An Open Day

2 February 2004

Circa Theatre and Wellington Waterfront Limited are coming together to stage ‘Circulate – An Open Day’ on Saturday 7 February.  Between 11am and 3pm a range of entertainment is to be held in the area, both inside Circa and outside on the waterfront.  In the Theatre people will be able to take a tour of Circa’s back stage facilities and experience some theatre free of charge.  Two half-hour performances will feature ‘The Improvisors’ and excerpts from ‘The Truth About Love’ which features, among others – Dame Kate Harcourt, Pinky Agnew and Lorae Parry.  A spoof on property and personal growth seminars, ‘The Truth About Love’ provides a lyrical look at love, longing, lust and laughter.

“This event offers excellent opportunities for people on a number of levels, those who haven’t been to a theatre show before can come in and experience one at no cost, and people are always fascinated by what goes on back stage in the theatre – well this is their chance to find out.” says Susan Wilson, Co-ordinator of Circa’s Council.  “On the day we are also offering a special deal that allows people to become a ‘Friend of Circa’ for just $25”.

Outdoor entertainment has been designed to reflect the overall theatrical nature of the event and includes glam girl extraordinaire PollyFilla, The Hiptet, The Beat Girls, Dan Adams of ‘Verona’ fame amd Groovin High featuring Stephanie Hartfield who will be preforming predominantly show tunes.  Face Painters and other activities to keep children amused will also be provided.

A number of spot prizes; Circa Dinner and Show packages, Lunch Vouchers, Show Tickets, etc will also be up for grabs on the day.

Visitors to the event will also be able to sample some of the fare on offer at the Circa café which is now open for lunch from Wednesday – Sunday each week.

“Circa theatre plays an incredibly important part in adding to the cultural life of the waterfront, we are pleased to be able to support them through the staging of this event.” says Perry Walker, Events Manager for Wellington Waterfront Limited.
