5 March 2004 Wellington Waterfront Limited (WWL) has just appointed Ian Pike, a highly respected manager within Wellington commercial property investment circles, as it gears up for a busy programme of property development on the waterfront over the next four years.
“We are very pleased to have engaged someone of such a high calibre to the pivotal position of Commercial Manager,” says WWL Board executive chair Fran Wilde.
“While at least 78% of the waterfront will be public space, there remains a sizeable portfolio of high quality development opportunities that will be of interest to developers and property investors. WWL must negotiate the best deals possible to help fund the development of public open space and ensure optimal use of the buildings in a unique environment such as the waterfront,” adds Ms Wilde.
Formerly of AMP Capital Investors, Ian has had a wide-ranging and successful career in property acquisitions and management. Recent highlights include launching the AMP Property Opportunity Fund (a high-risk, high-return development fund) and the AMP Global Property Securities Fund – a superannuation scheme investing in property securities in North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. In 2000, Ian managed the sale of Wellington’s Inter Continental Hotel, following extensive marketing throughout New Zealand, Asia and Australia. Ian was also responsible for the sale of the Queens Wharf Retail Centre, a high profile and controversial property on the waterfront, maximising the result for all affected parties.
Ian holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia, Bachelors of Property Administration and Commerce and is an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers. Ian is currently Vice-President of the Wellington Branch of the Property Council of New Zealand. |
